Listen N Write can be used to play or transcribe common audio or video recordings (MP3, WAV, OGG, AVI, WMA, WMV, MPG, FLV, OGV, VOB, TS, etc).

Listen N Write has unique features facilitating the transcription work as you can command via keys (while using its embedded word processor) and add time markers (bookmarks).

Moreover, the audio stream is directly rewound a few seconds when using the Pause key.
This useful application can be treated the standard software for any transcription because of its simplicity of use or small size.

Listen N Write's user interface consists of 3 parts: the media player or the optional text editor and bookmarks box, however only the media player or text editor open by default. You could hide or display the bookmarks and text editor with the media player's View menu; the rest of the menu bar's entries will be common for most users. The media player itself is very easy to use, just a file name field, playback controls, Open File icon, a slider for adjusting the volume, and a process bar and counter. The Text Editor has the toolbar with a lot of controls.
