Running Mode

- Functions on Unix-derived OS (e.g. FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris etc.) and Microsoft Windows 32-bit platforms.
- Works either stand alone (integrated web server) or accessed via FastCGI-enabled web server.
- Highly customizable on a per-host and -backend basis.

User Interface

- Easy to understand web interface for unexperienced users. If the user does something inappropriate an error message is displayed which is most cases based on the info field returned by the LDAP server. If this is correct the user can retry rapidly his action with revised input parameters. One has to accentuate that no other web interface offers such a forgiving error handling in its user interface.
- Customizing the search root is most times not required.
- Compatibility for file upload of binary attributes, e.g. jpegPhoto and userCertificate.
- useful browsing in folder trees with paged showing of search results. Honors attributes numSubordinates, hasSubordinates and subordinateCount if available for deciding if entries have subordinate entries.
- Shows JPEG pictures in-line with acceptable performance by smart caching.
- Attributes including DNs, URLs or mail addresses are displayed as links. DNs can be followed within web2ldap by using the link.
- If a problem occurs during adding or customizing entries the user can edit and re-submit his input data.
- Recursive removal of folder trees.

Many Output Formats

- HTML templates can be used for showing LDAP entries.
- HTML header can be adjusted to include colors, background photos or logos.
- ID params in primary HTML tags for using Cascaded Style Sheets (CSS).
- Printer friendly HTML output of search results based on a customizable HTML template string.
- Compatibility for vCards - users of regular browsers can simply add entries to their local address books.
