SeaTools for Microsoft Windows is Seagate's suite of tools oriented towards testing USB, SATA, ATA and SCSI drives against hardware problems, broken devices and virus threats.
SeaTools for Microsoft Windows relies on a user friendly, yet very nice looking interface that comprises a series of menus which include a large collection of diagnosis tools.
Upon launch, the software directly identifies the installed drives (both internal or external), together with the model version, the firmware variant, as well as their status.
At this moment, just choose the drive to be tested and select one of the utilities offered inside the Basic Tests menu. The Short Drive Self Test and the S.M.A.R.T. Check take the least, time-wise and both of them will decide if your drive functions within decent parameters, but without offering a detailed report in this regard.
