Novelty is a free to use game maker suited for making visual novels. Contrary to most other visual novel creators, Novelty is developed for users without any experience in programming or scripting.

As a developed you have a lot of artistic freedom in this application. There are no templates or assumptions on how your game should look. The visual options that come with this software allows you to offer your game an exclusive look that will stand out.

Programming or no programming

Novelty is developed around the concept that no programming is needed. Instead of typing code, you can use a visual pseudo programming system which allows you to set up game events and dynamic story parts using a point and click interface.

If you are an experienced user with knowledge of programming in C++ or Java, you will be glad to know that there is a scripting language ready to use if you want to customize the game even more.

Novelty grants a rich asset creation pipeline, that allow you to create your own custom property using an easy yet strong markup language or over an easy to use interface.
