KStars is a simple and free application designed for Windows, that enables you to see a highly accurate simulation of the night sky, at any time and date, from any location on the globe. The application lets you see and study more than 13 000 deep-sky elements, 100 million stars, the Sun, all the planets in our solar system, the Moon, and thousands of asteroids and comets.

KStars comes with a series of catalogs containing information and images about more than 100 million stars. The utility also offers access to downloadable catalogs, including Abell Planetary Nebulae, Messier Images, and much more. In addition, the application includes several tools that will help you quickly retrieve data from multiple Online Databases.

KStars allows you to adjust the emulation sped in order to observe various phenomena that happen over long periods of time. The application includes an Astrocalculator that offers access to several calculations and helps you easily predict conjunctions. Internet links for images of objects and further information are also available.

KStars comes with an Observing List feature that will help you plan observations. The integrated FOV Editor will help you calculate and display the equipment's field of view. Additional tools are included, such as Altitude vs Time, What's up tonight, and Sky Calendar.
