The game starts in the prehistorical age and your goal is to help you tribe evolve from the Stone Age to the Space Age. The game comes with a series of optional modes which contain Civilization compatible rules.
Due to the fact that the game is developed and maintained by a team of coders and enthusiasts worldwide, Freeciv comes with multilingual support. The game is fun to play and quite addictive. The game can be played over the Internet and supports up to 126 players. AI controlled players are available as well.
Freeciv offers various scenarios, maps and more than 550 nation and 50 playable units. A help system is also available.
