Doomsday supports many classic games like the original first-person shooters Heretic, DOOM and Hexen.

The meaning of this applications is to maintain the initial feel of the game yet offering modern techniques and technologies, including the hardware accelerated graphics and client or server networking. A lot of importance is placed on the great looking graphics.
