Because new dangers come out every day, BitDefender antivirus must be updated rhythmically. The updates can be of following kinds:
- Spam signatures: rules for the heuristic and URL filters improving the influence of the antispam engine. Shown as AntiSpam Update.
- Product upgrades: recent product features, scan methods and hotfixes. Displayed as Product Update. Occasionally, installing these updates needs restarting the PC.
Occasional updates can be done anytime you want, even when the product is configured to automatically update the database:
- Open BitDefender and click Update.
- Click Update now to start the update process.
If the option Prompt sooner downloading updates was selected in the Settings, and when updates are accessible, a list of the updates available for download is shown. Pick the desired utility to install and then click on "Details" in order to see the file download details.
