Avidemux is a free to use video editor developed for easy cutting, encoding and filtering tasks. It supports a large range of file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 or ASF, using a collection of codecs. Tasks can be automated utilizing projects, job queue and strong scripting capabilities.

Avidemux is ready to use for BSD, Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X under the GNU GPL license. The software was developed from start by Mean, but with contribution from other users also.

Luckily, Avidemux is compatible a large array of video formats, including FLV, AVI and MPEG, but also for the audio format, such as WAV, MP3 and OGG.

Additionally, you can take advantage of processing tools, decoder options, filters, adjusting the frame rate, a glyphs editor, and many others.

After a fast installation process, you will probably notice how genuine the user interface is. The graphical user interface is occupied with a couple of menus and a few controls for playback abilities.
Usage is not complicated: once you have opened a video document to work with, you can crop it by pinpointing a selection and by using the Delete key on your keyboard, or re-encode it by picking the output file format from a drop down list and saving it.
