Arasan is a lightweight chess game that supports the majority of popular operating systems, including MS Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
The program provides both a graphical user interface (that works only in Windows) and a CLI-based chess engine that can be used with xboard and Winboard. Furthermore, you can use this chess program with Arena, which is another free interface for chess. Arasan Chess supports other UCI-compatible applications, such as Chessbase and Fritz.
Arasan comes with an opening "book" that contains more than 500 000 moves.
Arasan chess engine is completely free and is distributed under the MIT License.
