Arasan is a free and lightweight chess game which offers support for all popular operating systems, including Mac OS X, MS Windows, and Linux.
The application includes both a graphical user interface (which is available only in Windows) and a command line based chess engine that is compatible with xboard and Winboard. In addition, you have the possibility to use this chess software with Arena, which is another free interface designed for chess. Arasan offers support for a wide variety of UCI-compatible applications, including Chessbase and Fritz.
Arasan integrates a rich opening "book" which contains over 500 000 moves.
