Transcribe! is a lightweight application which will help you easily work out certain parts of music files or recording in order to write them out. The program doesn't perform the transcribing automatically, but will help you extract the notes and lyrics, being optimized for this purpose. The application packs a wide range of transcription features which will make your work easier.

Transcribe! is also used by lots of people for play-along practice. The program lets you change the speed and pitch of an audio file and enables you to save and recall an unlimited number of named loops. You can also use this utility for speech transcription.

Unlike conventional media players which are not very convenient for transcribing music, Transcribe! packs a collection of features which will make the transcription tasks easier and smoother. The program is able to to slow down the audio without modifying the pitch, add markers and textual annotations, or to analyze chords and display the notes found in the song. Furthermore, the program features an on-screen piano keyboard which can be used for playing reference notes.

Transcribe! is able to support video files, as well. In order to do this, you need to convert the video file to a supported format first. QuickTime is required.

Transcribe! is not suitable for working with MIDI files, due to the fact that these files already contain detailed information about the notes played. The program will deal with audio sample data files only. Although is able to play and record audio files, this program is not an audio editing tool. The application lets you apply various effects to your audio file, such as EQ, speed change and pitch change. The modified audio file can be saved separately on your hard drive, if you need to do this.
